This film tells three parallel stories of lives away from home. Guoguang goes to Shanghai from the countryside and works as an assistant chef in a restaurant. His brother breeds reindeer in the mountains far away, and Lao Lu, the restaurant owner’s son, studies in Paris. All three left home to achieve greatness but life in their present locales proves difficult. Just as Guoguang meets his soul mate he loses her. When Lao Lu is attacked by gangs he gets surprising help from his landlord, whom he thought was hostile towards him. Guoguang’s brother tries to accept various crises realistically. When a choice must be made, who will stay where they are now and who will go home? In making these choices the three people forget the memories of a lifetime. We watch as Guoguang looks at a photo of his lost love whilst atop Shanghai’s Oriental Pearl TV Tower; his brother remains in the mountains. These crucial moments convey a bizarre hope: Be patient, as tomorrow will come to you if you stand today. (PARK Jin-hee)
