Once the most celebrated magician of his time, Ethan is injured in an accident during a magic show, and is rendered quadriplegic. He overcomes this hardship, however, by working as a radio DJ, publishing his essays, and becoming an icon of hope for many. But his status comes at a great cost; Ethan must fight to endure unceasing pain. Finally too exhausted to continue living a life where he can’t even maintain a minimum of human dignity, he gives up and appeals to the courts for euthanasia. His nurse of 14 years, Sofia, is initially outraged, having given up her own personal life to take care of him. But as she continues to observe and care for Ethan, doggedly persevering in his choice to end his life, she makes the decision to put everything at risk for his happiness. This is a melodrama that deals with the controversial issue of euthanasia utilizing beautiful music, pictures, and graceful acting.
