Program Note
[Superclasico] focuses on the journey of a father and son heading from cold climates to tropical Buenos Aires. They leave for Argentina somehow, yet for a bitter reason. For Christian, Argentina only makes things worse. For he, as the owner of a Copenhagen wine shop, keeps thinking that he can no longer stand ‘Malbac’, a typical Argentinian wine. Another reason he dislikes Argentina is football. He came to this land to settle a divorce lawsuit, but his wife, Anna, is preparing for the wedding with an Argentine footballer for whom she works as a sports agent. For his son, Oscar who likes Kierkegaard, it is the land of an opportunity to meet a pretty South American girl, however. [Superclasico], with the grammar of comedy, depicts a great deal of trouble the father and son run into. Their journey in a peculiar place forces them to undergo new experiences, exemplifying this work as a fine family film. (LEE Sang-yong)
