Two married couples and their teenage children meet during a summer vacation by the sea. Nic is troubled by his violent father and Marie has never seen hers. While family anxiety continues to build, the two continue to rely on each other and start to fall for one another. But Nic has inherited a violent temper he can’t control, and is not able to express his real feelings toward Marie. Set amidst the beauty of nature, this showpiece about teenagers, their friendship and worries, and violence debuted in Locarno. The acclaimed Swiss director includes autobiographical elements. The camping site represents a situation detached from the outside world, and is also in tune with the identity of the adults. The movie makes a comparison between the adults and the children: Whereas the former are portrayed by still waters, the latter represent hope through continuous movement around the corn field.
