Program Note
A 17 year old girl Natalia, the daughter of an upper-class family goes out with Rodrigo, the son of a working-class family. Unaware that she is pregnant until late-term, Natalia decides to obtain medication that will induce an abortion while her parents are away for a trip. Rodrigo tries to persuade her not to, but Natalia is by no means ready for a family. As abortion is considered a crime in Chile, they search for a solution, sitting up all night. To them, that night does not seem to end. Through her feature film debut, a budding director from Chile touches upon the controversial issue of abortion. The film depicts a teen couple having to confront an unwanted pregnancy in a detailed and realistic manner. Further, setting the spatial-temporal limit to the same place in a night even appears to be a directorial challenge. (RHEE, Soue-won)
