Program Note
Two friends spend their time building weapons, waiting for a global apocalypse. They have an illusion that the apocalypse will occur and make it ready for their imaginary gang ‘Mother Medusa’ to wipe out world. One of them, however, meets a charismatic young woman and falls in love, which starts off an emotional journey of betrayal, love, hate, and violence more devastating than their apocalyptic fantasies. Centred round Hollywood, many an apocalyptic films have been released in recent days. [Bellflower] borrows some images from them, and depicts the moment the revelation becomes a reality. It is not a matter of the illusion but turns into the history of infatuation, betrayal, and conspiracy that human beings have long constructed. At last, the broken friendship causes violence far more disastrous than the apocalypse itself. The apocalypse is not far beyond but in us. (LEE Sang-yong)
