This film’s eloquence is not merely testament to more intimate filmmaking. The rhythm of the film’s presentation is captured naturally, converting the unknown actors’ murmurs into drama. Crossing the line between professional and amateur, commercial and independent films, the drive of the creator organically brought these elements together. It is proof that this director has added a new thread to the independent tapestry. Aggressive Katsutoshi is fired from his job after getting involved in an assault. He starts working at a sex club called the Tokyo Playboy Club, run by his friend Seikichi. When a waiter there, Takahiro, is caught stealing money Seikichi forces Takahiro’s girlfriend Eriko to work at the club to refund the stolen cash. Meanwhile, Katsutoshi clashes with the local Yakuza, and once again Eriko is used as collateral. From there, things spiral out of control. Director Okuda Yosuke comically reveals how human natures are intertwined, paying particular attention to atypical characteristics; conventional character archetypes are rare.
