A strange story about a middle-aged woman who gives birth to a fish. A poor, middle-aged couple, Lina and Miguel, move into a village next to a dumpsite. When Miguel loses his job due to an illness, Lina starts to work in the dumpsite, picking up garbage and scavenging with some neighbors. One day, she finds a statue of St. Peregrine and becomes pregnant soon thereafter. Months later as a storm rages outside, she gives birth to a fish. The little village is caught in a whirlpool of frenzy. Lina believes that her delivery of the fish is God’s will, and that the fish’s life is just as precious as a human’s. She looks after the fish as if it were her own child. This strange tale is based on a true story that was introduced on Philippine television over several months during the ’90s.
