Program Note
As a series of tragedies befalls one family, behind the scenes the vastly differing socio-economic status of each member makes itself known and felt.
On the day of his daughter’s wedding, Adore hears that his sister Adeling’s younger son Caloy has murdered his older brother, Lito. Having just attended the funeral of Adore’s brother Alfonso, his sister-in-law and niece Christina go to offer comfort to Adeling. On the day of Lito’s funeral, Caloy is accidentally shot to death by the police.
With three family members dead in the span of just a few days, the entire clan is buried in grief. But at the same time, they come to realize how indifferent to each other they had been. Director Kim Homer Cabagio Garcia crafts a serious exploration and expression of the estrangement from each other our families are suffering today. He also points his finger to family problems at the core of so many of the tragedies that plague our society. (KIM Ji-seok)
