Nicola, Salvatore, Rocco, and Franco are members of a band when they were young but now each of them are living on different jobs as math teacher, actor etc. With passion for music, they decide to attend together a music festival held in Southern Italy for the first time in 10 years. For this purpose, they plan to traverse the Basilicata area on foot, and an exciting adventure filled with unexpected accidents and encounters unfolds after a female reporter joins them. [Basilicata Coast to Coast] is not only a musical roadmovie overflowing with music, friendship and love but also a bittersweet comedy. It portrays in a very moving way how middle-aged men who already tasted bitter experiences are rejuvenated through a retrospect of their lives through the medium of music. It has wonderful dialogue and a sense of humor, as well as naturally conveying that music is a part of our lives through the lyrics of the songs that are composed impromptu in daily life. The filmmaker′s love for his hometown Basilicata, now almost forgotten, is represented by the landscape in most of the scenes. This outstanding piece full of humanity is a directorial debut from Italian veteran actor Rocco Papaleo, starring all the best Italian stars including Alessandro Gassman and Giovanna Mezzogiorno.
