Program Note
Lyon, France in 1970s, Sibylle, Corinne, and Georgette are sisters who share everything, as they live with their Italian mother. Sibylle is the only blonde in the family except the father who abandoned the sisters, and she feels isolated. She dreams of meeting her French father one day. A touching drama which depicts the emotions that Italian French may feel while living in France. The film is full of love for Italy evidenced by scenes showing the landscape and atmosphere of Italy. Moreover, the delicacy spread in the film makes a deep impression on audiences with canzone at the end of the film. The film is based on the autobiographical essay by Sylvie Testud, who became famous for receiving the Cesar Awards Most Promising Actress in 2001 for [Les Blessures assassines(Murderous Maids)] by Jean-Pierre Denis. Testud acts as Sibylle, and this film is the opening film for this year’s French Night.
