Program Note
Europe plays hooky and hides in a truck. She has no idea of the journey she will embark on before she meets the attractive Jupiter. The truck drives off the road to enter the world of the Gods. Metamorphoses is a modern interpretation of the ancient Roman poet Ovid’s classic narrative poem of the same title. Set in a civilized city, this is an interesting piece introducing Zeus, Europa, Narcissus, Hera, Bacchus, and Orpheus of Greek and Roman mythology. The film revolves around Europe who is in the favor of Zeus. And as we follow her trail, we are led into a series of episodes including the myth of Narcissus. A brilliant work of vision and subtle visual aesthetics from innovative French auteur filmmaker Christophe Honore, the modern interpretation of Metamorphoses is full of pleasurable moments that go beyond our imagination.
