Program Note
Freddie is getting re-married to his ex-wife, Sophie. Maura is being paid to have a fake wedding ceremony. Freddie and Maura are booked at the same wedding reception place at the same time, and from there things get complicated. On the other hand, as unexpected incidents happen, Sophie questions the relationship of the two, and the marriage is about to collapsed. It is an Irish slapstick comedy which presents a love story within a rare and unexpected situation. This excellent work shows an evolution of the genre of long tradition, and each character, from main to supporting cast member, shows strong characteristics and personality which will stay in audiences’ thought for a while. Sally Hawkins, who is well-known for [Happy-Go-Lucky], plays the main character and shows her self-examination on life and humanism.
