Famous writer Guido is writing a selection of short stories. His work is nominated as the final contestant of a prestigious literary prize, but deep inside, he has doubt about himself as a writer. Taking swimming lessons instead of his daughter, he falls into the sorrowful attractiveness and mysterious atmosphere of the swimming instructor, Giulia. Later he learns the reason why she could not accept his invitation for dinner. This film is about an isolated and doubtful writer and a woman who cannot go on a date at night. With the narration of the main character, the writer, and with visualization of short stories he is writing, the film depicts the inner solitude of the characters and glimpses at their lives. Superb acting of Valeria Golino is a must-see.
