Program Note
Ida fell love with Mussolini at first sight, and she actively supports Mussolini with her socialistic daily paper ‘Avanti’. After becoming right wing, she commits all her fortune to establish ‘Popolo d’Italia’, the predecessor of Mussolini’s fascist party; however, she later discovers that Mussolini already had a family. Her fight begins when her son was refused to be recognized. It is the first film ever to depict the extramarital love affair of Mussolini and was a film topic at Cannes. The film will show different aspects of Mussolini about whom little is known to the Korean public, Giovanna Mezzogiorno plays Ida, and newly rising star, Filoppo Timi plays as Mussolini. This is a new film by Italian mastermind, Marco Bellochio.
