Program Note
Based on Han-gang’s famous short story, [Mongolian Spot], about an artist who falls for his vegetarian sister-in-law. He paints her body and feels the desire to take her. [Vegetarian] is a film that unites desire with art by adapting a short story into the screen and portraying the main character’s artistic behaviors.
Director Lim Woo-seong is also working on another film, [Scar], based on another novelette by Han-gang. He describes the unknown limit of human desire and breaking of taboos through the dream-like air between the characters. The psychological depth, that he is able to create, leaves one in expectation of his next move. (LEE Sang-yong)
