Program Note
This film is a story of May and En-seol. May returns to Seoul looking for her birth mother after 23 years of life as a Korean-American adoptee. En-seol is a taxi driver suffering from a rare cardiac disease. Following their chance encounter at the airport, they come to help each other, also by chance. The film depicts the chronologies in which the past and wounds of those unsociable become revealed. May bears a long-standing grudge against the absence of her parents to whom her anger should be directed. En-seol bears intense pain from his unpredictable death. They dream of a ‘rabbit’ named hope. This film is, above all, a drama of wayfarers going through the awkward adolescence. One’s wounds hurt, yet heal those of another. The director steals a surreptitious glance at a hopeful shadow that the wanderers on whom his unblinking gaze is fixed cast. (LEE Sang-yong)
