Program Note
Bruce, who is mentally disabled, goes on a journey to place his deceased mother’s ashes next to his late father. He believes that his father is Bruce Lee, the legendary martial artist and movie star. On the journey to America, he encounters Trin, a girl who was captured by a human trafficking group. He eventually confronts the villains to save the girl.
Mainly employing the conventions of the martial arts film with a mixture of musicals, melodrama and fantasy, this film remarkably harmonizes the various generic elements with an exciting storyline and classical action sequences. This variety pack film comes into a growing up story of a young man with a child’s mind. Leaving the sheltered life built by his mother with a martial art training and fantastic story of his father, he learns to overcome the lies, deceptions, violence and exploitation of the harsh real world with the faith and friendship.
