Program Note
Living on the skirt of the Himalayas, a ten-year-old boy, Siddarth, lost his mom in a fire that occurred during a religious ritual and his dad was injured. Wondering why, the boy decides to search for God in order to ask if this unfortunate incident was his will. During his journey to God, the boy comes to learn the true meaning of family, friendship, and belief. Under the view of magnificent Himalaya, the poverty and daily lives of the people seem trivial. Although living in harmony with nature and religion, the severe condition of their lives is ongoing. While the grown-ups keep in silence, the kids ask a bitter question, why are we unfortunate? And what is the meaning of unfortunate? The journey of three children resembles the sufferings of heroes in myths. This film deals with the matter of religion, family, friendship, and the conversation with God about the life through realistic portrayals with a fantastic plot. (CHO Young-jung)
