Program Note
The sounds of blades skating across ice and the shouts of athletes fill an ice rink?the national ice sledge hockey team members. They play on sledges, not on skates, and freely command their sticks atop the ice. Though each athlete has a painful story of his own, they are full of life on the ice. Neither the poor conditions nor the tough training proves an obstacle. And they continue to play against mighty Paralympic sport nations in foreign countries without anyone cheering them on. They often fall because of the adverse physical conditions, but are still full of vigor. The joys and regrets over a game won or lost is theirs alone. No one cares whether they return home with medals, but still they continue to dream and sledge on. (KONG Youngmin)
