Eleven stories unfold about the city of Mumbai - a city that is sometimes a gateway to hell, a city where strangers can change your life, a city of dissimilar lives in similar circumstances, a city of dreams and blurred realities. - And It Rained (Manish JHA) The story of two dejected, depressed, grieving individuals in the city. - Anjane Dost (Jahnu BARUA) The demeanor of a complete stranger can affect the bearings of another. - Bombay High (Ayush RAINA) The spirit of the city is dancing wild to the beat of everyday life in the metropolis. - Bombay Mumbai Same Shit (Rahul DHOLAKIA) A day of the rich man′s life in a south Bombay. - Hero (Kundan SHAH) An actor tries to get on board the train with his strategies, plans and schemes. - Jo Palti Nahi Woh Rickshaw Kya (Ruchi NARAIN) A lady sees life in Mumbai through her interation with the rickshaw drivers. - Parcel (Revathi) An immigrant woman arrives in Mumbai on her way to the middle- east. - Pramod Bhai23 (Anurag KASHYAP) The story of a juvenile delinquent who is obsessed with the bollywood. - The Ball (Sudhir MISHRA) Asister′s struggle to find justice for her brother′s murder. - Urge (Rituparno GOSH) Nobody can be untouched from the seduction of the city′s dream for better life. - 10 Minutes The city that never has time, but all about waiting.

Manish JHA
Born in 1978 in Bihar, India, Manish Jha studied English at Delhi University and then worked as an assistant director on various television series. Her first short film A Very Very Silent Film was awarded the Prix du Jury at the Cannes Film Festival in 2002. MATRUBHOONI marks her feature directing debut.

Rahul Dholakia
Rahul Dholakia studied mathematics at Bombay University. After producing and directing advertising films and PSAs in India, he went to New York Tech to pursue his masters in Filmmaking. After graduating, he line produced a series of documentaries which were aired on Channel 4, London, and also independently produced and directed the documentaries [Farooq], [Dot Busters] and the award-winning [Teenage Parents in New York]. His first feature in Hindi, [Kehtaa Hai Dil Baar Baar], had world wide distribution.

Sudhir Mishra wrote the screenplays for the internationally acclaimed Summons for Mr. Joshi and Who Plays the Piper, which gained cult status in India. As a director, he has directed numerous acclaimed films such as This Was Not Our Destination (1986-7), which won the National Award for best first film for the director. The City of Dreams (1992) won the critics’ Special Jury Prize at the Festival of Three Continents in Nantes.

Anurag KASHYAP
Originally from Uttar Pradesh, Delhi Anurag Kashyap now lives in Mumbai where he works as a screenwriter, both for himself and other filmmakers. He made his feature debut in 1999 with Paanch, which went on to achieve critical success. [Black Friday], his most recent film, was selected for competition at the Locarno International Film Festival in 2004. He is currently in development on his next film, [Gulal], to begin shooting in October 2004.

Rituparno Ghosh is from India. His 1999 film ′Bariwali′ (Lady of the House) won him a Netpac Award. In 2008, Ghosh was awarded the prestigious Premio Arca D′Oro by the Italian government for his outstanding work. He is also the proud recipient of the National Award for his film [Shubho Mahurat.]

Jahnu Barua
A graduate in Film Direction from Film and Television Institute of India, his first feature film [Aparoopa] won the National award in 1983 and his other films,including [The Catastrophe] , have gained high acclaim. He currently teaches cinema at the Xavier Institute of Communications in Bombay.
