Program Note

It is interesting to see how Asian countries reinterpret the western superheroes. The reason the Cicakman stands out among Asian superheroes is that this superhero has the ability and power of a lizard, which can be easily found in Malaysia. It is unique that the Cicakman is a combination of superhero film and comedy film, while the most of superhero films are entered on action theme. (Mina OAK)

Yusry Abdul Halim

Born in 1973 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Yusry started out as a member of Malaysia′s sibling boy band, KRU, with his two brothers, Norman and Edry, in 1992. They established their own entertainment company, KRU Studios, which specializes in the entertainment and media industry, and produced/directed a variety of television programs for Malaysian television channels. Later on, Yusry pursued a career in acting and starred in Gerak Khas the Movie II (2002) and Mr. Cinderella (2002). He made his feature film director debut with Cicakman in 2006.
