Born in 1973, Lee graduated from film department, Seoul Institute of The Arts and worked as an assistant director for Scent of Love, directed by Kim Soo-yong. With his short Lucked Out, he won the Grand Prix at Daegu Independent Short Film Festival and a Jangling Coin Award at Jeongdongjin Independent Film Festival.
