Program Note
In this film, director Amir Naderi uses a traditional narrative style instead of keeping his former conventional experiments, but his curiosity still thrives: is it possible to destroy a family with a few words? There is a peaceful family in Las Vegas. But this peace soon ends because of a rumor that there is a million dollars buried in their backyard. The family at first was dubious but once they started digging, they found themselves in uncontrollable confusion. Even after the explanation that it was all made up for a reality show, they don’t believe it. They eventually give up their own livelihood to continue with the digging. Greed that goes far beyond borders on insanity, and the family ties are destroyed in the twinkling of an eye. An obstinate and stubborn imagination of Amir Naderi can be authenticated once again by this film. (Mina OAK)
