Program Note
If You Were Me 4 is an annual omnibus film project by the National Human Rights Commission of Korea. Each film paints a portrait of how Korean teenagers feel insecure about their own future, deal with social issues, and battle with a full gamut of emotions. Regulations of Korean society create an “exam hell” that suffocates teenagers. Five directors use their own attractive ways such as music or rap to present the scampering of teenagers just as they want to break through. This project has profound significance, as it is a rare collection of films with Korean teenagers as the main characters.
