Ovidiu spends most of his day hanging around and occasionally helping his mother who runs a small kiosk. The only wish he dreams is to open up his own one. One day, Ivanov, a shady local businessman suggests huge dough for an errand to deliver some mysterious stuff to the city. Ovidiu takes the job to make his dream come true, hit the road with his best friend Vali and his girlfriend. Stuff and Dough is a feature debut by Cristi Puiu, who showcased the Romanian New Wave to the worldwide film critics and festival circuit with his second feature film The Death of Mr. Lazarescu in 2005. Puiu’s films never intended to create anything polished or metaphorical, instead obsessed with attachment to the reality. Nothing really happens but shows everything happened. What you see is what really is, no matter how banal and cruel it would be. (Young-in LEE)
