Program Note
Crossing Dates portraits three different stories: Bogdanovici and Bogdanovici, Mirela and Torbjorn,Andrei and Ana. A famous entertainer Bognadovici decides to interview a prisoner having the samename, Bogdanovici. A prison governor Mirela and a Norwegian businessman Torbijon reunited at aconference in Bucharest after Mirela once walked away from Torbijon’s life. Andrei meets his youngsister Ana after prison release but she is not the young innocent girl he remembers. The characters in this film represent each different desire: desire for fame, desire to be free, desire to be with someone who love, desire to take care of one’s family, and desire to stand for themselves. All are well put and seamlessly sewed to finally encounter in this mosaic portrait, surprising debut feature by Anca Damian. (Young-in LEE)

Anca DAMIAN
Born in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, Anca Damian studied cinematography at the Academy of Theatre and Film Arts. She began working in documentary film as a director and writer, and later as DOP on feature films. She is also a professor at the National University of Cinematographic and Theatrical Arts. Her filmography includes [Rituals] (2001), [Trip to Romania] (2004), [The Museum of the Road] (2006), and [To Be or Not to Be] (2007). [Crossing Dates] is her feature debut.
