Mental is a cinema-verite style documentary that captures the daily life of the patients, doctors, employees, volunteers, and helpers of an outpatient mental health clinic in Japan. The camera is impressive in leading the viewers into the world of the mentally disabled. Despite the increasing numbers of the disabled, the issue of the mentally disabled is still being avoided by society, so this film, which portrays the patients who struggle toward human dignity and the local community that tries to help them, becomes more poignant.
