Program Note
In the aftermath of her father’s traumatizing death, Gaile, a children’s speech therapist, finds herself unable to feel any kind of emotion. But when a series of videotaped events-increasingly aggressive and hideous-stoke dormant feelings in her, Gaile begins to rely on them to reconnect with her humanity and hopefully lead her to a catharsis. Her outrageous behavior causes concern for those caught in the wake of her quest to simply feel. In the modern age of distant but omnipresent images, Kristina Buozˇyte (referred to in the Lithuanian press as a latter day Liliana Cavani), ponders the position and impact of the electronic record that has quickly become an accepted norm almost everywhere in the world.
