Program Note
There, free women are inventing every day a profession they have chosen, which consists in listening to other women wrestling with their freedom to love and have children now, one of these days, or never... We are between walls that hear what people never tell outside about the new life we have all known since it became possible to make distinctions between amorous embrace and sex and the birth of a child. -Claire Simon Contrary to what some believe reproductive choice comes at a stiff price. Decisions do not come easily or flippantly, and Simon makes that point militantly in God’s Offices. Set in a family planning clinic, the film follows five counselors as they listen and advise the broad spectrum of women that come to them. A film filled with pathos, fury, and joy.
