Supplanting his dead parents with those in the story, his experiment leads to falsehoods and misplaced beliefs that raise alarm bells in an oversensitive community and beyond. Utilizing, as well as questioning, the capacity of the Internet to “create” lives, Egoyan studies the after-effects with images culled from phones, web, and gracefully illuminated staged sequences.
