Program Note
Even though the idea of desiring another person is very fascinating to me, here it is not clear who is the victim and who the executioner. In the end, they are one and the same, and the executioner is only life, which makes them act in ways, which are very serious. Still, the spectator watches and tries to understand their actions. -Ferzan Ozpetek One an inconspicuous evening, the police are called to the home of Emma and Antonio after neighbors claim to hear gunshots. The couple is separated, Emma living with her mother with their children. Recounting the day that leads up to the mysterious moment, all seems relatively normal. The characters, including the children, a politician, and a teacher, entwine against the backdrop of a frenetic modern Rome where the most innocuous of gestures and comments have far-reaching impact that result in the ultimate act of betrayal.
