Angelique is now an old hostess working in a nightclub at the border of France and Germany. She loves her work, but realizes that it won’t last much longer and is torn when one of her regulars asks her to marry him. Will she be able to live a second life as a wife? What to do if you’ve lived your whole life as a party girl in a cabaret, and received a marriage proposal at 60? In a soap opera, this may just sound like a dream come true for the girl. But Angelique is different. She is worried that she won’t be able to live without the parties that have filled her life thus far. Her young soul continues to thirst for love and freedom in her 60s, and makes us think about love at an old age, and living life however we want. This film by three directors has an autobiographical component, and the actress playing the role of Angelique is actually one director’s mother. The film won the Camera d’Or award this year.
