The latest feature from Chang Jung-Chi, winner of the Best New Director at the Golden Horse Film Festival in 2012 for Touch of the Light, opened the Taipei Film Festival in July 2014 to rave reviews. Partners in Crimestarts with a high school girl, Hsia, committing suicide. Three schoolmates, Huang, Lin and Yeh see Hsia’s body on their way to school and decide to investigate her death, which they find suspicious. Hsia, a student living with her single mom was imprisoned in loneliness where, “no one spoke to her.” As the three go through the dead girl’s journals and share her most intimate secrets, they become closer to each other. One day, Huang drowns in the lake behind her school by accident, and rumor spreads through the school that Lin and Yeh were accomplices in her death, followed by the disclosure of one her secrets. Partners in Crime is a realistic examination of school life and the Sturm und Drangof teenage years when, “false facts become the truth if you trust someone.” (KANG Naeyoung)

CHANG Jung-Chi
Born in Taipei, Chang holds a degree from National Taiwan University of Arts. His debut was the documentary My Football Summer which won a Golden Horse Award in 2006. In 2012, his first fiction feature, Touch of the Light won him Best New Director at Golden Horse Festival.
