Program Note
A prisoner of the war between Iran and Iraq, ‘I’ has been writing a letter to his son whom he has never seen for the 18 years. Finally, ‘I’ was placed on the list of prisoners to be released; however, he feels insecure. This film takes the form of ‘I’ the war prisoner reading a letter to his unknown son.

Mohammad Ahmadi
Mohammad Ahmadi was born in 1962 in Yazd. In 1983, he started working in Yazd’s youth cinema. In 1991, he graduated from the Fine Arts University of Tehran in photography. He has worked as cinematographer, photographer and executive manager on several films, including as photographer for [Gabbeh](1995), directed by Mohsen Makhmalbaf. He previously directed a documentary short, [Captive, Waiting] in 2002. [Poet of the Wastes] is his feature debut.
