Russian master filmmaker Andrey Tarkovsky visited Armenia in 1965, and this doc is based upon the director’s recorded visit to Geghardavank Monastery. Linking past and present with new footage, Azatian and Mkrtchian ask what ideology is and investigate Tarkovsky’s search for God.

Arsen Azatyan
Born in Yerevan, Armenia, Arsen Azatyan was a student of filmmaking at the Yerevan Pedagogical Institute, and is also an editor. Along with partner Nariné Mkrtchyan, Azatyan founded Aysor and Aysor-Plus Film Productions after making several short films in the 1980s. His films include [Bobo](1991), [Radio Yerevan](1992), [Christmas](2002), [Sabre Dance](2002), [At The Roadside](2004) and [Andrey](2006).
