Program Note
In a medium-sized town towards the end of the day, a train pulls in and a solitary figure gets out. His name is Milan, a man with a bag over one shoulder that is as worn and shabby as its owner. While looking for some fizzy aspirin tablets in a pharmacy, Milan comes across Manesquier, a retired teacher. The two men meet again in the empty street as they walk in the same direction.
Although they are complete opposites, they strike up a friendship for one simple reason - each envies the other’s life. The teacher dreamed of being an adventurer and the adventurer thought of being a secure career man. Three days from now, Milan is to hold up the local bank. It should be routine, but he feels uneasy. Three days from now, Manesquier is to have a triple heart bypass. Three days to get to know each other. Three days to dream about a different life that might have been. Three days before everything goes horribly wrong?
