The film begins with a couple walking in a deserted city. Daisuke, whose business in Tokyo had failed, and who had just returned to his old town to make a comeback, and his lover Hisako fill the empty space. Daisuke adheres to a health food business in spite of objections from his parents. However, the people in the old town are not interested in his business. This is not the Japan of the 80s, but of the 90s; Japan after the burst of the bubble. And just like the by-gone icons such as Damagochi and Pipi and like the scenery of the old town, they too feel empty. How shall they survive? However, the desolate space and the emptiness suddenly change into something different. The film has a bewitching power to entice the viewers with its sudden humor, unique rhythm, the seriousness and the interchange between the meaningful and the meaningless. To use a catch phrase in Korean, the film is quite ‘bizarre.’ However, director Nobuhiro Yamshita is not only playful but he also retains a firm belief in life.
