This documentary centers on the dreams, struggles, and challenges of a group of footballers in junior high school. The football team at Meilun Junior High School in Taiwan`s Hualien County trains diligently for the national championship and finally reaches the finals. In portraying the struggles of the 17 team members, directors Li-chou Yang and Rong-ji Chang tell us about something more than just football; they tell us about the pains and joys that the boys experience as they try to make their dreams come true. The constant risk and pain of injury, the arduous training, the pang of loss, the romance of dorm life, the difficulties of studying, worries about getting into high school, friendship… all these things are folded into one story about a team trying to win the national championship. Ultimately, however, it is football that they love, and life through football that they learn as they grow into adulthood. Yang and Chang portray a simple and honest view of life for viewers.
