Program Note
This film reflects the lives of three women in three different periods in Indonesia, played by one character. Portraying the abuse of women from one decade to another, this film depicts the women`s struggle to free themselves from the shackles of the patriarchal society in which they live.

Nan T. Achnas
Nan Achnas earned a directing degree from the Jakarta Institute of the Arts and a master’s degree in Film Studies at the University of East Anglia, United Kingdom. She directed and co-wrote Whispering Sands (2000), a feature-length film that won nine international awards.
