In 1906, Upton Sinclair scandalized the meatpacking industry with his shocking expose, [The Jungle]. In 2001, Eric Schlosser did much the same thing, in the process pointing out that nothing`s really changed. In the wake of a string of books and films that portray the negative effects of our convenient, modern diets, such as [Fatland] and [Super Size Me], Richard Linklater has fashioned a narrative version of Schlosser`s non-fiction bestseller. In Cody, Colorado, a local Mickey`s outlet is having great success with its new burger - until it`s discovered there`s something wrong with the meat. The film touches on issues of politics, health and ethics to shed light on the far-reaching impact real chains like Mickey`s are having on us all.

Richard LINKLATER
Founder and artistic director of the Austin Film Society, Richard Linklater was born in Houston, Texas, and is a self-taught writer and director who has quickly become an icon of American independent cinema. Among his films are the critically acclaimed [Slacker](1991), [Dazed And Confused](1993), [Before Sunrise](1995), [SubUrbia](1997), [The Newton Boys](1998), [Waking Life](2001), [School Of Rock](2003), [Before Sunset](2004), and [A Scanner Darkly](2006).
