This story of a producer, a cameraman and a reporter in search of a possessed person is, outwardly, a horror film, but it really deals with the social consequences of an Establishment, represented by a broadcasting company, ignoring the rights of the dispossessed. With their ratings trailing behind their competitor, SBN producer Meryl and reporter Dennis decide to risk it all with a report on possessions. But when they can’t get footage of an actual possession, they buy it from Baron, a cameraman working for their competitor. Their report is broadcast and their ratings skyrocket. Problems arise, though, because they didn’t edit out parts where the faces of the possessed woman and her family are clearly shown. And strange things begin to happen to Meryl, Dennis and Baron. In this combination of documentary and horror film, the picture of haunted Manila filled with lightning and thunder is in itself a superb mise-en-scene. It seems symbolic of a distorted Manila, a place full of social irregularities. (KIM Ji-Seok)
