Program Note
This film is a fantasy martial art blockbuster starring, written and directed by Dustin Tri Ngyuen, who’s known for acting in Hollywood and for The Rebel (2006) and The Legend Is Alive (2009). On one side, it is a typical Western with one man showing up at a village filled with crime and disorder before he restores the order and disappears in a cloud of dust. On the other it is different as it is carefully engraved with oriental elements like kung fu. As a martial arts action film it deals with the basic theme of trust and betrayal in human relationships. It has impressive first and last scenes where Dustin Ngyuen as a stranger when both appears and disappears riding a bike. All the film’s dynamic action performed by Roger Yuan and actress Thanh Van Ngo as well as Dustin Ngyuen are eye catching. Thanks to the uniqueness of the story, this film will premiere in North America and it will be subsequently screened in European countries such as Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxemburg, Belgium and Netherlands as well as in Asia.
