Program Note
In a small paper mill town during an hour on an autumnal Saturday morning when the sound barrier is broken by an army fighter plane, Milja shares her husband′s last moments by his bedside. In the pizzeria Leena stirs up a romance between her edgy co-workers. Down with the flu, Ilpo returns home from the factory to confront his marriage. Santeri is summoning up courage to meet a secret lover while the prodigal son, Esa, is out on a search for his father who has fled from his 60th birthday party. By the shore Anni, a single mother, walks into the river, while some are testing their courage with a Bungy jump. The River stemmed from a desire to study emotions; the girl walking into the river developed into a story with six episodes. It′s a moment of choice after which life will never return to its former tracks.
