Program Note
"For me, it′s more about happiness. All forms of happiness: the intoxication of victory, money, the most intense orgasm. But for you, it′s about whatever you want it to be"-Antony Cordier Mickael is a teenaged boy from a working-class home. He′s the star of the judo team at school, a good student, and has a beautiful girlfriend. He befriends Clément, a member of his judo team and a rich kid whose father sponsors the team. His girlfriend Vanessa is caught in the middle at this turbulent stage of their lives. What unfolds is not so much an adolescent love triangle drama, as a blackly comic and painfully honest examination of a period fraught with change and blossoming differences. The protagonists punish and push themselves physically and emotionally to test their boundaries; their motivations and responses anyone′s guess. Following a spontaneous threesome, Mickael comes to some realizations that are painful and confusing, though not necessarily regretted. First time director Cordier has made a film about sacrifice, suffering, hardship and, of course, happiness.
