Program Note
This is the story of Lou, who goes through painful growing pains because of her ‘dangerous love’ with her grandfather. Their father left them and her mother must work hard to maintain a living, and on top of all this, 11-year-old Lou’s grandfather suffers from dementia and confuses her for his dead wife. Still, the meeting with her grandfather becomes a new, extraordinary event in her life that lets her find the healing power of love. This is a coming of age story hard to find in Australia. It dramatizes a family story strictly from Lou’s point of view. The rapport between the two characters causes even the mother to misunderstand them, but bestows unexpected sentiments to the audience. The story of Lou’s family shares a universal persuasiveness. Veteran British actor John Vincent Hurt([1984], [Scandal]) portrays a realistic grandfather, and Lily Bell-Tindley as ‘Lou’ plays her first role as with real teenage spirit. (JEON Chanil)
