Ocean of Cinema for Everyone!
Making Culture Accessible Through ‘Barrier-Free Screenings & Tickets for Giving with Warmth & Ticketing Service for the Digitally Marginalized
BIFF continues to expand access to cinema for all members of society through its Barrier-Free screenings and social contribution program, ‘Tickets for Giving with Warmth’. Each year, the Festival offers disabled inclusive screenings to ensure that all can fully enjoy the festival.
This year’s Barrier-Free lineup features 10 films – Old Boy (2003) in Special Program in Focus; Coming of Age and The Love of Truman in Vision – Korea; Don’t Tell Mother in A Window on Asian Cinema; Be My Baby and People and Meat in Korean Cinema Today - Panorama; The Summer in Paris in World Cinema; Reedland in Midnight Passion; Relay Race in Wide Angle – Documentary Competition; and Coexistence, My Ass! In Wide Angle – Documentary Showcase. These screenings provide audio description for the visually impaired, as well as closed captions for the hearing impaired.
The ‘Tickets for Giving with Warmth’ program allows audiences to support our society by watching films marked with the ♣ symbol on the screening schedule. A portion of the ticket sales from these screenings will be donated to non-profit organizations, such as the Community Chest of Korea and Good Neighbors. This year, 15 films, five in each of the Korean, Asian, and World categories, are included.
Starting this year, BIFF will operate a dedicated box office that offers ticketing service for audiences often marginalized in the digital age, including seniors (born in or before 1960) and audiences with disabilities. During the festival, from September 17 (Wed) to 26 (Fri), tickets for the same day, as well as for the first and second screenings of the following day, can be purchased on-site at the junction of Busan Cinema Center. Please note that tickets for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies are not included. On the opening day, September 17 (Wed), tickets will be available up to the first and second screening sessions of the following day. Availability is limited, and these tickets will be sold exclusively on-site.
The full screening schedule will be released on August 29 (Fri), 18:00 KST, and all reservations can be made online at the BIFF official website (biff.kr). For tickets that are cancelled or not sold out online, on-site sales will be available at the BIFF box office during the festival.
From the latest works of master filmmakers to the distinctive films of emerging Asian directors, this year’s rich lineup will be presented at the 30th BIFF from September 17 (Wed) to 26 (Fri) for ten days across the Busan Cinema Center.
