This year, Forum BIFF turns its attention to two of today’s key topics: the green transition and sustainability. 🌱

Under the theme “Green Film Transition: From Carbon Reduction to Sustainable Cinema Ecosystems,” film industry experts from Korea and abroad will come together to discuss how cinema can move toward a more sustainable future.
From global policy trends to international and domestic case studies, the forum will take a closer look at carbon reduction and sustainability from multiple perspectives.

BIFF Everywhere is back, turning everyday spaces into places to experience cinema!
This year, 18 venues across Busan, Yangsan, and Seoul will come alive with films and special programs. 🪄
First up, local universities are bringing plenty of youthful energy to the Festival!

|
📍 Pusan Nat’l Univ. Car-Free Street
Catch student performances and short films created by Pusan National University students themselves!
|
|
📍 West Busan Cinema Center
Director Shin Seung-eun and actor Son Ye-won will join a screening of I Am Happy and spend time with the audience.
(Psst… they’ll also be stopping by Pusan Nat’l Univ. 👀)

|
📍 Tongmyong Univ.
Director Divine Sung will join a screening of Summer’s Camera.
The university’s clinical and counseling psychology club “The Temperature of Film” will also present Memories of Matsuko, followed by a talk exploring the characters from a psychological perspective.

📍 P.ARK 2F Ocean Garden
Together with Kyungsung University’s student team “KS-BFFs,” audiences can enjoy Asian blockbusters including Bong Joon Ho’s The Host and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, starring Michelle Yeoh.

Cinema also finds its way into some of the region’s most historic spaces. ✨
With BIFF Everywhere, new stories will bring fresh energy to places like Sadeok Market. 🎬

📍 Gijang Janggwancheong
Mad Dance Office and Leaving Mom will be screened, with director Cho Hynjin and Professor Jeong Il-young joining audiences for a lively conversation about family and life.
|
|
📍 Guposijang
Recently designated a “100-Year Market,” Guposijang will host Words from the Wind, with director Yang Hee and film critic Jeon Chan-il joining audiences, merchants, and local residents for a lively celebration of cinema.

📍 Mokhwadang 1944
At a former cotton warehouse reborn as a community cultural space, audiences can catch the comedy Manok with director Lee Yujin, along with a 20th-anniversary director’s cut of Hula Girls introduced by film critic Cho Jaehwi.

Following a dance performance with JD STAGE, actor Kang Jin-a and director Kim Suhyeon will join screenings of Not Alone, Soonyoung, and The Mountain Between Us.
Director Kim Miyoung and actor Park Jonghwan will also join the screening of A Lonely Island in the Distant Sea.

Catch Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie with music director Mowg sharing stories about bands and music, plus a market and hands-on activities.

Director Byun Young-joo and Professor Jung June-hee will come together for a talk on Busan and how film festivals can bring new life to a city. ☘️

Directors Kim Hong-joon and Lee Myung-se will share memories of actor AHN Sung-ki in a tribute talk.

📍 Hyundai Motorstudio Busan & F1963
Director Jung Da-woon’s The Studio, a documentary following Hyundai Motor Company’s 10-year architectural project, will be screened. 🚘

📍 Gimhae International Airport – International Departure Duty-Free Area
Passengers waiting for their flights can discover a surprise lineup of shorts including Route 7, Not Alone, My Roommate, Daldal, Passing By, and Magic Candies.

📍 National Assembly Member’s Office Building
On BIFF’s closing day, director Yang Jong-hyun of People and Meat and cultural studies scholar Cheon Jung-hwan will round out the Festival with a talk. ✨

|
The jury members for major awards across the Wide Angle and Vision sections have been announced!
The BIFF Mecenat Award honors outstanding Korean and Asian feature documentaries in Wide Angle Competition.
This year’s jury features director and producer Rintu Thomas, director Kim Taeil, and director Zhou Hao.

Short films in Wide Angle Competition will also be in the spotlight!
The Sonje Award, presented to the best Korean and Asian short films, will be judged by director and screenwriter Anuparna Roy, director Abinash Bikram Shah, and director and actor Lee Ranhee.

And we can’t forget the awards for Asian films in the Vision section!
For the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) Award, programmer and documentary filmmaker Nina Kochelyaeva, HKIFF Industry Senior Project Manager Matthew Poon, and producer Lee Dongha will serve on the jury.
