Gina, a high-school girl living in the suburb of Rome dreams of becoming an actress. One day, her mother who cares for and supports her arranges a meeting with an influential member of the National Assembly. So Gina heads for a meeting place, fully dressed up but the meeting is delayed and during the day, Gina enjoys her date in Rome with the driver Marco. This is a new film made by Francesca Comencini, a daughter of the Comencini family and the veteran Italian director. At the beginning of the film, the long conversation between the young man and woman in the car immediately implies that the focus of the story won′t be on the important meeting with a politician. While first providing the audience with the fun moment of visiting everywhere in the beautiful city of Rome with the main characters, the director doesn′t forget to touch upon the dark side of the political milieu of today′s Italia. At the end, the lively part at the beginning and in the middle of the film emphasizes the characters′ harsh reality even more. Nevertheless, the young people have a choice. (RHEE, Soue-won)
