Victoria, a researcher who arrived in a psychiatric ward for suicide research, meets Jenny who has been unable to sleep at night since childhood suffering from suicidal thoughts. Victoria is attracted to Jenny and tries to understand her inner self, but the more she does, the more perturbed her mind is. Psychosia seems to begin with a study of suicide, but this movie also looks into the sad inside a woman. The movie focuses on the portraits of the two women over and over again. The hospital director’s and Victoria′s face overlap, and Jenny’s and Jenny′s friends are intertwined, and the symmetrical structure like décalcomanie catches the eye. With the screen that seems to have hidden secrets somewhere continuing its cinematic curiosity, the actors′ acting, filming, art and music form an exquisite harmony. Danish director Marie GRAHTØ′s debut film Psychosia was first featured during the Critics′ Week of the Venice Film Festival, reminding us of several films from Ingmar BERGMAN′s Persona to KIM Ji-woon′s The Tale of Two Sisters. Of course, this film is equipped with a completely different personality from those movies. (Nam Dong-chul)
